The Classic Custard Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 unbaked pie shell (preferably Marie Callender’s deep dish)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2-2/3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Gently beat the eggs and then incorporate sugar, salt, nutmeg, and milk. Mix thoroughly and pour the mixture into the unbaked pie shell.
  3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the pie sets.
  4. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool.
  5. Sprinkle the top of the pie with freshly ground nutmeg.
  6. Serve and enjoy your delightful Old Fashioned Custard Pie.
